I pitched this story because I have a deep belief about the importance of country shows to the fabric of rural communities. The assignment allowed me to lean on my journalist background and let me capture what I know to be true: that these annual gatherings are where communities celebrate who they are. Through both words and images, I documented the Alpha Show as a microcosm of everything that makes rural Australia resilient.
